Short Biography
Shinichi Oshima received his Master of Engineering degree in Micro Engineering from the Kyoto University, Japan in 2012. Subsequently, he joined the NIPPON STEEL CORPORATION, as a part of their Research and Development Laboratories.
His work in this organization mainly comprises researching and developing instrumentation systems that use light to measure the shape of steel plates in the steel plate production process. He recently developed a flatness measurement system for steel plates using a light-emitting diode (LED) pattern projection method, which has garnered awards from several academic societies. He has also been investigating the application of the frequency shifted feedback laser rangefinder in the steel plate production process. He discovered that the velocity of an object can also be measured using the aforementioned rangefinder. Additionally, he developed a method for the simultaneous measurement of range and velocity using a frequency shifted feedback laser.
