Short Biography

Marta Wiśniewska was born on December 13, 1989 in Giżycko, Poland. She got her MSc degree in mechatronics (specialisation and educational profile: quality engineering) at the Warsaw University of Technology in 2013.  Then she undertook third-degree studies (PhD studies) in machine building and operation at the same university. When she was awarded with the György Striker Junior Paper Award in 2015, she was still doing these studies.

Her scientific interests cover a range of issues which fall within the scope of surface and form measurements; in particular, calibration and determination of metrological characteristics of measuring instruments. Due to her interest in advanced filtration techniques that may be applied in surface metrology, she has also created, and constantly develops, the ISO 16610 filters software. This computer program is used as an educational tool during one of the compulsory courses at the Faculty of Mechatronics of Warsaw University of Technology (specialisation: Coordinate Measuring Systems). What is more, her software is applied to both commercial and scientific activities of the Laboratory of Advanced Measuring Techniques at the same university.

Besides receiving the György Striker Junior Paper Award, she achieved a few other distinctions, i.e.: Polish Prime Minister Scholarship (2006-2008), summa cum laude - graduation with honours from Warsaw University of Technology (2013), the Dean of the Faculty of Mechatronics Scholarship for the Best Ph.D. Student (2014-2016).
