Short biography
Christian E. Eugène is born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1941. He received the degrees of Electrical Engineer in 1964 and Ph.D. in Applied Sciences in 1976 from the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL), Louvain and Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
He spent his whole career at the same University, department of Electrical Engineering where he finished his career as full professor in charge of the Instrumentation section. He is professor emeritus since October 2006. His main teaching activities concerned electrical measurements and instrumentation and light & lighting. He was also member of the board of the Council of the Continuing Education at UCL. His research activities concerned the general domain of intelligent sensors and instrumentation. He authored or co-authored about 130 scientific and technical papers in international journals and conferences. He supervised 3 doctoral theses and more about 100 diploma theses. He owns 2 patents. He is member of the IMEKO board (drafting committee), Belgian delegate to the IMEKO General Council and to the Technical Committee TC4 (Measurement of Electrical Quantities). In Belgium, he is member of the steering committee of BEMEKO (Belgian Measurement Confederation), and of the steering committee of the IBE (Belgian Institute for lighting).
